A photograph. Its story.

She is Silvia Rojas Veliz, my grandmother, who is currently 74 years old. A few years ago she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but through some studies it was confirmed that her illness was not Alzheimer's but Lewy bodies dementia, a degenerative disease of the cognitive capacities, which presents, at the same time, symptoms of parkinson's and hallucinations.

Two years ago she was still living in her house with my uncle who was in charge of taking care of her since he, his wife and his children live in her houseMy mother, my sisters and I visited her constantly. Unfortunately my uncle didn't take care of her properly, she was in a bad condition, her eyes almost didn't shine, so we brought her to live with us.

She is currently prostrate and does not speak, but can sometimes utter a few words, nod and deny. My mom, sister and I take care of her, unfortunately we can't do anything to help her recover her old faculties since the disease is degenerative, but we can take care of her so the disease doesn't progress too fast and she doesn't suffer during the process. She looks much better now than when she lived with my uncle, she looks calmer and happier, and she has regained the brightness and light in her eyes.
